Overview

Cloud Clip is a temporary, login-free file and text sharing utility. You can share files and text by uploading them and receiving a 6-digit code, which anyone can use to access the shared content. No account, email, or personal information is required to share or receive a clip.

Vaults

A vault is optional, permanent storage you claim yourself. Claiming one stores:

  • Your name and email address, used only for verification codes, links to change your PIN or phrase, and security notices.
  • The phrase you chose, and a one-way hash of your PIN or password — never the PIN or password itself.
  • An activity log of what happens in the vault, including the approximate city and IP address of each unlock, kept for 90 days.
  • A random identifier in a cookie on each browser that unlocks the vault, so we can tell you when a new one does.

Files and notes in a vault unopened for 30 days are announced by email, and deleted 30 days after that. Deleting the vault removes everything at once.

What Data We Store

  • Files — uploaded files are stored in Cloudflare R2, an encrypted cloud storage provider.
  • Text content — shared text and links are stored in a Supabase Postgres database.
  • Clip metadata — a 6-digit code, creation timestamp, and expiry timestamp are stored to manage clip lifecycles.

Automatic Deletion

All shared content — files and text — is automatically and permanently deleted when the user-selected expiry time is reached. Expiry durations range from 10 minutes to 3 days. Once expired, the data cannot be recovered by anyone, including us.

Analytics & Local Storage

We use Google Analytics to monitor aggregate traffic patterns such as page views and geographic distribution. Google Analytics may use cookies to collect anonymous usage data. No personally identifiable information is sent to Google Analytics.

We also use your browser's localStorage to remember small UI states, such as whether you have already seen the logo intro. This data never leaves your device.

What We Do Not Do

  • We do not sell, share, or monetize user-uploaded files or text.
  • We do not read, analyze, or scan uploaded content.
  • We do not collect emails, names, or personal identifiers from clips.
  • We do not use tracking pixels or third-party ad networks.
