Terms of Use

Last updated: September 2026

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Cloud Clip, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. Cloud Clip is provided free of charge and offers two things:

  • Clips — anonymous, temporary sharing of files and text through a code, a QR code or a link. No account is needed.
  • Vaults — optional, longer-term storage for files and notes that you claim with your name, a verified email address, a phrase, and a PIN or password.

User Content & Ownership

You retain full ownership of any files, text or notes you upload to Cloud Clip. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your content. You grant us only the permission needed to store, transmit, preview and — where you allow it — sort your content in order to run the service. You are solely responsible for the content you upload and share, and you confirm you have the right to do so.

Clips Are Semi-Public

A clip is accessible to anyone who has its 6-character code, its link or its QR code. Codes are randomly generated and difficult to guess, but clips are not password-protected. You should not use clips to share highly sensitive, confidential, or regulated data (e.g., passwords, financial records, medical information).

Clips are automatically and permanently deleted after the expiry period you choose, between 10 minutes and 3 days. Each file in a clip may be up to 50 MB.

Vaults & Your Credentials

When you claim a vault, you agree that:

  • The name and email address you give are accurate, and the email is one you control.
  • You will keep your phrase and PIN or password private. Anyone who knows both can open your vault, and you are responsible for everything done in it.
  • You will not tick “Remember me” on a shared or public computer — it keeps that browser unlocked for 30 days.
  • Your PIN or password, your phrase, and deleting the vault can only be changed through a link sent to your registered email. If you lose access to that email, you may lose access to your vault, and we may be unable to restore it.
  • Repeated wrong PINs or passwords temporarily lock the vault. This protects it and is not a fault in the service.

Vault Storage, Inactivity & Deletion

Each vault may hold up to 500 MB. We may change this allowance in the future.

If a vault is not opened for 30 days, we email its owner a link to download its contents. If it is still not opened within a further 30 days, its files and notes are permanently deleted. The vault itself, and its phrase, remain yours.

Deleting a vault removes all of its files, notes and settings at once. Deletion cannot be undone.

Autosort

Autosort is an optional vault feature that suggests folders for your files. Before it reads any document, it asks your permission. With your permission, it reads the opening of text, PDF, Word, CSV and code files, and sends only file names, a heading and a few keywords to Groq, a third-party AI provider, to choose a folder. Suggestions may be wrong; review where your files end up. You can turn autosort off at any time from the vault's info panel.

Prohibited Use

You agree not to use Cloud Clip to upload, share, store, or distribute:

  • Illegal content of any kind, including material that violates local, national, or international laws.
  • Malware, viruses, ransomware, phishing pages, or any other harmful software.
  • Copyrighted material without the express permission of the copyright holder.
  • Abusive, threatening, defamatory, or harassing text or media.
  • Content that exploits, harms, or endangers minors in any way.

You also agree not to:

  • Guess, scan for, or brute-force clip codes, vault phrases, PINs or passwords.
  • Access or attempt to access a vault that is not yours.
  • Claim vaults with someone else's email address or in bulk.
  • Get around storage limits, rate limits, lockouts or other safeguards.
  • Overload, disrupt, or interfere with the service or its infrastructure.

We reserve the right to remove any content, lock or delete any vault, and block access to the service at our sole discretion, without prior notice.

Not a Backup Service

Keep your own copies of anything important. We are not liable for any data loss, whether it happens when clips expire, when inactive vaults are cleared, during service maintenance, or due to unexpected downtime.

Third-Party Services

Cloud Clip relies on third-party providers, including Cloudflare R2 for file storage, Supabase for its database, Resend for email, Vercel for hosting, Groq for autosort, and Google Analytics for aggregate traffic statistics. We are not responsible for outages or failures of these providers.

Disclaimer of Warranties

Cloud Clip is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, that clips will remain available for their full expiry period, or that vault contents will be preserved.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cloud Clip and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use this service, including but not limited to data loss, unauthorized access to shared content or vaults, or service interruptions.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time, and the date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
